Alex McMurtry is SEC Gymnast of the Week and Alyssa Baumann is SEC Freshman of the Week
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A pair of Gators claim weekly Southeastern Conference gymnastics honors. Senior All-American Alex McMurtry is the SEC Gymnast of the Week and Alyssa Baumann is the SEC Freshman of the Week.
This is the first honor for both this season and the ninth SEC Gymnast or Specialist of Week honor in McMurtry's career.
Both Gators earned their honors based on their performances last Friday in Florida's narrow win versus two-time defending NCAA champion Oklahoma.
McMurtry's Performance:
Posted 10.0s in both vault and balance beam. First in nation to earn a 10.0 on vault and beam in 2018
Beam 10.0 completed her "Gym Slam" – a perfect mark in each apparatus
Baumann's Performance:
Turned in a pair of collegiate-best marks Friday.
Balance Beam: 9.975
Floor Exercise: 9.925

Florida returns to league action this Friday at No. 17 Auburn. The meet airs live from the Auburn Arena on the SEC Network beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

- Second Gator and 10th in NCAA history to complete a "Gym Slam"
Baumann's Performance:
Turned in a pair of collegiate-best marks Friday.
Balance Beam: 9.975
- Second Florida freshman (Bridget Sloan first in 2013) to post a nearly-perfect beam mark
- Took second in the meet's beam standings
Floor Exercise: 9.925
- As the final routine of meet, Baumann's 9.925 pushed Florida to the lead for the first time of the competition
- Shared third in the meet's floor standings
