After an abnormality was found during Randy Russell’s pre-participation physical back in January, his athletics career at Florida was cut short.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Defensive back Randy Russell, one of the state's top recruits last fall, has endured the hardest year of his life as UF's medical staff discovered an abnormality in the freshman's cardiac workup last January, which prohibits him from participating in athletics.
Since his diagnosis in January, Russell has become closer with God, his family, teammates and coaches.
The Players' Tribune spent a weekend with him in September so they could share his unique and powerful story.
