Gators cap perfect day at ITA All-Americans

Florida advances two into doubles quarterfinals and three into round of 16 in singles main draw and consolation.
 
TULSA, Okla.Johannes Ingildsen and Brian Berdusco capped a perfect day for the Gators with an upset of the No. 2 seed in the doubles draw of the ITA All-American Championships.
 
Ingildsen and Berdusco topped SEC foe out of Vanderbilt, Cameron Klinger and Billy Rowe, 6-3, 6-1.  The duo advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal round with the victory.   Sophomores Andy Andrade and Oliver Crawford are also through to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Washington's Enzo Sommer and Kawika Lam. 
 
In singles, Crawford rolled past Juan Carlos Aguilar of Texas A&M to advance to Saturday's round of 16. Ingildsen and Riffice rebounded from their first round losses to survive in the consolation bracket.  Ingildsen defeated SEC foe Filip Kraljevic of Ole Miss 6-3, 6-2 and Riffice top Wake Forest's Meneloas Efstathious 6-1, 6-3.   
 
All five Florida matches were scored as straight set victories.

  • Saturday's play will feature two rounds of Main Draw singles, beginning with Round of 16 play at 9 a.m. ET, while the main draw doubles enters the quarterfinal round.

  • "Our guys competed at a high level today which enabled us to have success.  I was quite impressed with how Johannes [Ingildsen] came back today and bounced back from yesterday.  Sam [Riffice] did a nice job today as well and closed out a very tough opponent."

What's on the Line?
  • In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players will be competing to secure a berth to the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place Nov. 7-11 in Surprise, Ariz.
  • Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist will advance to the end of fall national championship.
