Florida is ranked 11th in the fourth College Football Playoff rankings of the season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida travels to Tallahassee on Saturday for its final game of the regular season, as UF and FSU kick off at 12 p.m. inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
Both programs have first-year head coaches with Dan Mullen and Willie Taggart, however, Florida's having the much better season.
Dan Mullen is the only first-year coach to beat a top-10 CFP team, and he's the only one to top multiple CFP-ranked
teams. Meanwhile, Florida, Utah State (10-1), Cincinnati (9-2), Georgia Southern (8-3), and Syracuse (8-3), are the only eight win FBS teams that finished below .500 last year.
Meanwhile, Taggart's Seminoles enter this content under-.500 record and needing a win to extend FSU's bowl streak to 37 consecutive years. In addition, FSU has beaten the Gators five-straight years and will be looking to continue that streak this weekend.
Saturday marks only the second time in the history this rivalry that both schools feature head coaches in their first season. This last happened in 1960, when Ray Graves began a 10-year tenure with the Gators, and Bill Peterson started his 11-year stint with the Seminoles.
Florida defeated Florida State, 3-0, on Sept. 24, 1960 in that contest.
Florida debuted at No. 11 in the College Football Playoff Rankings, but fell to No. 15 after its 38-17 loss to the Missouri Tigers two weeks ago. Last week, Florida bumped up to No. 13 after its come-from-behind victory over South Carolina and the Gators now sit at No. 11 following its thrashing of Idaho.
Florida's resume is highlighted by wins over No. 7 LSU and No. 18 Mississippi State.
