
Gators Rank No. 6 in Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida baseball team is ranked No. 6 in Collegiate Baseball's NCAA Division I Preseason Poll released on Tuesday.
It marks the 11th-straight season that head coach Kevin O'Sullivan's club has been ranked during the preseason in the nation's oldest college baseball poll, which began in 1959. The Gators were No. 25 in 2009, No. 9 in 2010, No. 2 in 2011, No. 1 in 2012, No. 24 in 2013, No. 16 in 2014, No. 6 in 2015, No. 1 in 2016, No. 3 in 2017 and No. 1 last season.
Florida joins eight other Southeastern Conference programs in the poll, including five teams in the top 15. The SEC East figures to be among the nation's best divisions with three teams ranked in the top 15 (Vanderbilt - 2, Florida - 6, Georgia - 13).
Seven of the Gators 2019 opponents are ranked in Collegiate Baseball's preseason poll: at No. 1 LSU (4/18-20), at No. 2 Vanderbilt (3/21-23), vs. No. 10 Florida State (3/12, 3/26, 4/9), at No. 11 Ole Miss (4/5-7), at No. 13 Georgia (5/3-5), vs. No. 27 Mississippi State (3/15-17) and vs. No. 33 Miami (2/22-24).
The Gators open the 2019 season on Feb. 15 against Long Beach State at McKethan Stadium.
