Rising sophomore Deanne Rose's first collegiate spring break include a trip to Portugal. She is among Canada's 23-player roster for the upcoming Algarve Cup. This is her third consecutive Algarve Cup appearance.

Canada's roster also includes former Gator Adriana Leon. In January, she was picked by Sky Blue FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Dispersal Draft. She led the 2017 Boston Breakers with six assists and was second on the team with six goals.

The Algarve Cup runs from February 28 through March 7. Canada will play Sweden to open the tournament on February 28 before taking on Russia (March 2) and Korea Republic (March 5).

"Once again, we are bringing a young, hungry team, blended with more experienced veteran players to the Algarve Cup as we continue to expand our tournament expertise heading into the CONCACAF Women's Championship later this year," Canada Head Coach Kenneth Heiner-Møller said. "The competition format is especially important for the upcoming CONCACAF tournament which will serve as the qualification route for the FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019, as it will allow us to focus on how we prepare the team for quick turnarounds between games, adapt to different opponents in short periods of time, and reinforce on-field relationships and chemistry between players."

During Rose's first season with the Gators, her team-high totals tied for second in the Southeastern Conference for game-winning goals (5), fifth in goals (9) and eighth in points (21) in all matches played. She was the SEC Freshman of the Year and the only freshman on the All-SEC team.
