GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No.2 Florida softball team takes to the road for the second weekend of the 2018 season with a three-game series against No. 16/19 UL-Lafayette at Lamson Park.

With a successful first week of competition under the belt, Florida faces another tough task in what will its' second top 25 matchup of the year. Last season the Gators recorded a 24-6 record against teams ranked inside of the
USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll, and a 22-6 mark against teams ranked inside the USA Softball/ESPN.com poll.

Florida bested then ranked No. 18/16 Michigan, 2-0, opening weekend to pick up its first top 25 victory of the season.

This weekend's series will be broadcast via the radio on WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM) with Ryan Urquhart and Kelsey Horton. The first two games will also be televised on Cox Sports TV and online on ESPN3.

After this series, Florida returns to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for an eight game swing. A midweek doubleheader against Oakland (Feb. 21) will precede the Aquafina Invitational, where the Gators will welcome in Maryland, Illinois State, Georgia Southern and Iowa State.

Notable Notes
- Senior Kayli Kvistad is currently chasing the Florida all-time record for walks that is held by Lauren Haeger (2012-15). Haeger recorded 175 walks throughout her illustrious career, but Kvistad is making a run and sits sixth all-time with 132.
- Junior Kelly Barnhill hurled the third no-hitter of her career Wednesday night against North Florida. The Marietta, Ga. native was nearly perfect as she only allowed on Osprey to reach base via hit by pitch.
- She struck out 12 on just 55 pitches.
- The Gators have outscored opponents 51-3 through the first six games of the season and has scored those runs in bunches.
- There has been six innings so far this season where the team has plated four or more runs.
- Barnhill is chasing a record of her own as she is racing up the all-time strikeout list. She has tallied 547 strikeouts throughout her career and sits sixth all-time in the UF record book.
- Stacey Nelson (2006-09) holds the record with 1,116 strikeouts.
- The next spot ahead of Barnhill is held by Stacey Stevens (2004-07) – she struck out 624 batters.
- After Danielle Romanello's at-bat Wednesday night, all six freshmen have now seen collegiate action this season.
