SEATTLE – The Florida men's tennis team concluded the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Indoor Championship on Sunday against the University of Illinois, falling to the Illini 4-0.
The Gators lost the doubles point to the Illini after dropping No. 2 doubles 6-3 and No. 3, 6-1. McClain Kessler and Duarte Vale were able to earn their first doubles victory of the tournament with a 6-3 win over the 40th-ranked duo of Aleks Vukic and Aron Hiltzik.
Florida fell behind early in singles on courts 1, 5 and 6 with only Alfredo Perez on court one being able to earn a point in the first set. All three courts were completed in straight sets with Perez losing 6-2, 6-1, Andy Andrade losing 6-0, 6-3 and Chase Perez-Blanco losing 6-0, 6-4. Those three courts were the only singles matches that counted towards the final score.
