Gators Sweep SEC Weekly Awards

Brooks win SEC Player of the Week and Esborn SEC Freshman of the Week
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida sophomore Sierra Brooks and redshirt freshman Elin Esborn were both honored by the SEC this week.
Brooks was named SEC Player of the Week while Esborn was SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
For the third time in four starts this spring, Brooks finished in the top two on the leaderboard shooting 2-under par at the SunTrust Gator Invitational. She would finish second in the event.
Just one stroke behind her was Esborn who had a season-best finish of third in Gainesville. Esborn also set a season-best when she carded a 68 (-2) in the second round of the tournament. It is the first time in her collegiate career shooting sub 70.
Brooks and Esborn paired up as the No. 1 and 2 in Florida's lone home event and helped lead the Gators to their lowest three round total in the program's history (840).
The Gators also set a new record at the tournament as they were the first team to shoot even par in the 46 year history of the event.
