This weekend's Southeastern Conference series against No. 8 Texas A&M will be broadcast on ESPN2, Saturday and Sunday, and the SEC Network, Monday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida softball team continues action at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium this weekend with a three-game series against No. 8 Texas A&M starting Saturday, Mar. 24, at 5 p.m.
The Gators (24-3, 4-2 SEC) are coming off a midweek victory over USF where
Kelly Barnhill (12-1) hurled another no-hitter.
Nicole DeWitt ended the game and secured the 9-0 victory in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run home run to center field. It was her sixth home run of the season.
Florida and Texas A&M have only met 17 times prior to this upcoming series with the Gators leading 13-4. The last time the two teams met was during the 2017 Women's College World Series where the Gators downed the Aggies 8-0 in five innings to start their deep run.
This weekend's series will be broadcast on WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM). Kyle Crooks and former Gator softball standout Kelsey Horton will have the call for each game.
The games slated for Saturday and Sunday will be broadcast on ESPN2 with the series finale airing on the SEC Network. Tiffany Greene, Michele Smith and Amanda Scarborough will serve as hosts up in the booth. Notable Notes:
- The University Athletic Association announced plans for major renovations to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The stadium will undergo an estimated $11 million transformation that is slated to begin the summer of 2018 with a goal for completion prior to the 2019 season. Release
- Kelly Barnhill continues to dominate in the circle this season. So far the junior right-hander has thrown five complete-game no-hitters, which includes a perfect game, through 16 starts this season. The Marietta, Ga. native holds a 0.53 ERA while also limiting opposing batters to just a .091 batting average.
- Junior Amanda Lorenz continues to be a force at the plate this season as she has reached base safely in all 27 games played this season. The Moorpark, Calif. native also reached 66 times safely out of the 68 games played last year. Lorenz currently leads the team with a .446 batting average with 11 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 33 RBI and 33 runs scored.
- Florida currently holds a 13-0 record at home and this will be the first true road test for Texas A&M this weekend.
- The Gators have scored 19 times in the first inning so far this season and hold an 18-1 record when doing so. UF has also outscored opponents 38-5 in the initial frame of play.
