The doubleheader Wednesday will be streamed on the SEC Network + via WatchESPN.com or the WatchESPN app.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Florida softball team makes the quick turnaround to play a doubleheader against FIU Wednesday starting at 4 p.m. at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
The Gators (27-3) are coming off a series sweep of No. 8 Texas A&M this past weekend. It's the first time that the program has swept a top 10 team in a three-game series since No. 5 Louisiana came to Gainesville during the 2016 season.
Junior right-handed pitcher
Kelly Barnhill helped propel Florida to the sweep of Texas A&M and her efforts in the circle earned her Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Senior
Aleshia Ocasio continued to be dominant as well after throwing her first one-hitter of the season against a potent Aggies offense.
This weekend's series will be broadcast on WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM). Ryan Urquhart and former Gator softball standout Kelsey Stewart will have the call.
Wednesday's pair of games will also be streamed on the SEC Network +, which can be found via WatchESPN.com or the WatchESPN app. Kyle Crooks and Kelsey Horton will serve as the hosts.
Notable Notes:
- The Gators moved up to No. 4 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll & No. 5 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll this week. Last week UF fell out of the top five of both national polls to No. 6, which snapped a streak of 46 consecutive weeks being ranked inside the top five during the regular season.
- UF is one of four SEC teams to maintain a perfect home record during the 2018 season. The team sports a 16-0 record at Pressly Stadium and is 20-1 against nonconference competition.
- Nicole DeWitt is riding a six-game hitting streak into tomorrow. This is the second streak of that length for her this season and is three games shy of tying her career-long streak of nine games set in 2017.
- Amanda Lorenz drew three walks Monday night against Texas A&M to extend her reached base streak this season to all 30 games.
- Over her career Lorenz has reached base safely in 154 of 161 (.957) games played.
