Gators Seek 25th Consecutive BIG EAST Victory Against Huskies

Florida has turned in a 44-2 regular season conference record since 2011.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A week after completing a four-goal comeback to defeat No. 24 Georgetown, the University of Florida lacrosse team returns home on Saturday for a BIG EAST tilt with the UConn Huskies.

The opening draw is set for noon from Donald R. Dizney Stadium. A live stream of the game will be available via the BIG EAST Digital Network, with Daniel Gillman on the call.

Saturday's contest will be the fifth meeting between the Gators and Huskies, with Florida maintaining a 3-1 advantage in the series. Last season, a pair of seven-point performances from Lindsey Ronbeck and Mollie Stevens led Florida to a 20-10 victory in Storrs, Ct.

Florida enters Saturday's showdown on a 24-game win streak against BIG EAST opponents dating back to 2015, after the Gators suffered a setback on the road at UConn (L, 11-10). Since 2011, UF has posted a 44-2 regular season conference record, including a 24-1 mark in the BIG EAST.

UConn dropped a 13-5 decision versus No. 23 Denver in its last outing. The Huskies opened BIG EAST play by defeating Butler on the road, 22-5.

UConn: 5-5 (1-1)

Head Coach Amanda O'Leary:
"UConn is an extremely talented team on the offensive end of the field, and does a great job on the draw by placing the ball around the circle and winning possession. After a couple weeks of conference play, I think people can see there is a lot of parity in the BIG EAST this year, and it's exciting for us to play against this level of competition week-in and week-out. We have a great opportunity tomorrow to come out of the locker room ready to play a full 60-minute game."

Scouting the Huskies
UConn has played in five games decided by four goals or fewer so far this season, including three one-goal decisions (1-2). Senior attacker Grace Nolan ranks second in the NCAA in total points (59), sixth in goals (36), and ninth in assists (23). The Huskies also win 14.8 draw controls per game, the third-best mark in the BIG EAST.

Gators in the Second Half
Through 10 games this season, Florida has successfully completed three comebacks of four goals or more: (4 goals vs. No. 23 Loyola; 8 goals vs. No. 10 Navy; 4 goals at No. 24 Georgetown). The Gators have outscored their opponents by 24 goals in the second half, and attempted 36 more second-half shots. Florida's defense has allowed just 13 goals in the second half over its last three outings.
