GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The sixth-ranked Florida softball team hits the road this upcoming Wednesday to face No. 9 Florida State in the first Fresh from Florida Sunshine Showdown game of the 2018 season. The contest, slated for a 7 p.m. start, will be aired on ESPN2.
The Gators (34-6) enter the Top 25 midweek contest after taking a crucial Southeastern Conference series, 2-1, on the road against No. 15 Alabama.
Danielle Romanello, this week's SEC Freshman of the Week, clinched the series with a three RBI performance after entering as a pinch-hitter in the final game that UF won 3-2.
The St. Petersburg, Fla. native tied the game 2-2 with a two-run double down the right field line in the fourth and produced the game-winning run with her first collegiate home run in the sixth.
Florida State (33-7) enters the week after having taken their series, 2-1, over Pittsburgh this past weekend.
The midweek contest will be broadcast on WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM). Kyle Crooks and former Gator softball standout Kelsey Horton will have the call.

2018 #WeChomp Weekend Shuttle Information
Fans attending the game this Saturday against No. 11 South Carolina and plan to go the Orange & Blue Spring Game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium need to be aware of the following:
- As a reminder, fans must adhere to the clear bag policy if attending the Orange & Blue game.
- Shuttles will run from the Southwest Recreation Center RTS bus pickup starting at 1 p.m. with the final shuttle returning at 6 p.m. The drop off and pickup location at the Orange & Blue game is located at Gate 2 of the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
2018 SEC Softball Tournament Ticket Information
