
Ocasio, DeWitt Selected During National Pro Fastpitch Draft

The duo became the 14th and 15th Gators drafted into the NPF.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Seniors Aleshia Ocasio and Nicole DeWitt of the Florida softball team were selected during the 2018 National Pro Fastpitch Draft Monday evening. It's the first time since 2016 multiple Gators have been selected in the draft.
Ocasio, drafted by the Chicago Bandits, was the 10th overall pick, while Nicole DeWitt went 17th overall to the USSSA Pride. The duo became the 14th and 15th Gators drafted into the NPF.
In 2017, Delanie Gourley was selected 12th overall by the Texas Charge.
"It's a special night for both Aleshia and Nicole and proud of the fact that they get to further their careers in the NPF." Head Coach Tim Walton said. "The Bandits and the Pride are getting two high-caliber players that have helped our program excel over their career and I expect them to do the same for these two organizations in the future."

- A two-time All-SEC First Team selection (2016 & 2017) and earned All-SEC Freshman Team (2015) accolades.
- Member of the 2015 WCWS National Championship team.
- Plays internationally for the Puerto Rican national team.

- Currently ranks in the Top 10 of four career categories at Florida.
- A two-time NFCA All-Southeast Region Team (2016 & 2017) selection, 2017 All-SEC First Team and SEC All-Defensive Team member.
- As a freshman earned a spot on the 2016 WCWS All-Tournament Team along with All-SEC Freshmen team accolades.
- Member of the 2015 WCWS National Championship team.
- Sent UF to the 2015 WCWS Championship Series with a single to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Gators a thrilling extra-inning victory over Auburn, 3-2.
