Nick Horvath Among 10 Senior CLASS Award Finalists

Florida senior Nick Horvath has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate baseball for outstanding achievements in the community, classroom, character and competition.
53057OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (April 24, 2018) – Florida senior Nick Horvath has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate baseball.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of finalists follows this release.

Horvath, a Family, Youth and Community Science major, has a 3.37 cumulative GPA and has completed nearly 50 hours of community service as part of the Goodwill Gators program. He is the recipient of the 2018 FYCS Cole Slate Scholarship, awarded to a student that displays volunteerism in the community and leadership on campus.

On the field, Horvath has served as the Gators' everyday center fielder this season. He has a career-best .295 batting average with 12 doubles, five home runs and 25 RBI.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. 

Finalists were chosen by national media from the list of 30 candidates announced in March. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through May 28. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner.
