McMurtry Latest Gator NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Recipient

Fifty-six Gators have received a NCAA postgraduate scholarship -- including each of the past three years.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Gator gymnast Alex McMurtry is Florida's 56th student-athlete to receive a postgraduate scholarship. McMurtry is the seventh Gator gymnast awarded a NCAA postgraduate scholarship since 1982.
The NCAA's postgraduate scholarship program awards up to 174 postgraduate scholarships annually. The $7,500 scholarships are given to 29 men's and 29 women's student-athletes three times per year, corresponding with the fall, winter and spring seasons.
McMurtry achieved at the highest levels in both the athletic and academic arenas during her Gator career. The four-time NCAA champion (2015 team; 2017 all-around, bars; 2018 vault) is one of 10 in NCAA history to record a 'GymSlam' – a 10.0 in each apparatus. McMurtry is the third UF gymnast to receive a NCAA postgraduate scholarship who posted a 10.0 as a Gator (McMurtry, Savannah Evans and Amy Myerson).
The 2017 and 2018 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year owns a 3.98 grade point average in applied physiology & kinesiology- exercise physiology. At the 2017 NCAA Championships, McMurtry became the first Gator in any sport to receive the NCAA Elite 90 Award (given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at each of the 90 NCAA championships sites). She graduates this summer and then prepares to start physician assistant studies.
