Game Notes
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After a convincing 19-8 win over Marquette in the BIG EAST semifinal, the Gators are once again headed to the BIG EAST title game for the right to hoist the championship trophy.
Florida is looking to clinch its fourth-straight BIG EAST Tournament Championship when the team faces Denver at Noon on Saturday. UF topped Denver two weeks ago in Colorado, defeating the Pioneers 18-13.
BIG EAST Tournament Final: Florida vs. Denver
The Gators have won eight conference championships in the last nine seasons since the program started in 2010 and Florida has won at least a share of every BIG EAST regular season title and has won three consecutive titles outright after sharing with Georgetown in 2015.
UF has five conference tournament championships under its belt: 2012 & 2014 in ALC; 2015, 2016 & 2017 in the BIG EAST.
The Gators clinched their fourth-straight BIG EAST regular season conference championship with a 23-3 defeat of Butler last Saturday. With that victory, UF now has six undefeated conference seasons in the nine years as a program: 2011, 2012, 2014 (all in the ALC) and 2016, 2017, 2018 in the BIG EAST. Florida tied its program record for most conference wins in a season with nine (2017).
Semifinal Roundup
Four Gators set or tied records during Thursday's win over Marquette, including an astounding eight-goal game by Lindsey Ronbeck. Her eight goals were the most by any player in BIG EAST Tournament history, surpassing the previous mark of seven by Christina Dove (SU) in 2008. Ronbeck now also sits at 19 career goals in the BIG EAST Tournament, passing Molly Ford's mark of 18 (Georgetown).
Ronbeck's eight games also tied Florida's program record, matching Shannon Gilroy's mark against High Point on Feb. 15, 2014.
Cara Trombetta added onto her single season caused turnover record, recording five in the game, pushing her to 35 this season. Those five caused turnovers tied her for first in program history for the most CTs in a single game.
Freshman Sabrina Cristodero broke the single season record for draw controls, winning 11 draw controls on the day. That puts her at 110 this season, passing Mollie Stevens' mark of 106 from 2017.
Lastly, Junior Haley Hicklen racked up 146 saves through 18 games this season, which is a Florida program record for most saves in a single season.
