Kayli Kvistad achieved her bachelor's in four years in a challenging field of study.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Gators clinched their fourth-consecutive Southeastern Conference Regular Season Championship Friday, but this weekend was even more special as Kayli Kvistad graduated Saturday with her bachelor's degree in Communication Science & Disorders. The next step for Kvistad will be pursuing her master's in the same field of study starting next fall at UF.
Kvistad, a four-year starter for the Orange & Blue, was responsible for three of the RBI in the Gators opening series victory against Missouri Friday night that clinched the program's fourth-straight SEC Regular Season Championship.
"I'm extremely proud of Kayli for earning her degree in a challenging field of study in just four years. She has been relentless in her development not only on the field, but also in the classroom." Head Coach Tim Walton said. "The amount of success she has achieved just shows how dedicated she has been and I know that same dedication will carry over to her pursuit of a master's degree at Florida."
The Lake City, Fla. native is a 2018 Senior CLASS Award Top 10 Finalist, and currently ranks inside the top 10 of four different career categories at Florida.
- On Base Percentage – .489 – 2nd
- RBI – 187 – 5th
- Walks – 168 – 2nd
- SAC Flies – 11 – 2nd
Also graduating is former Gator standout Kelsey Horton. Horton will graduate with her Pharm.D. Monday, May 7, and will start her career as a Pharmacist for Publix. Horton will continue to serve as a part of the radio broadcast team alongside Kyle Crooks for the remainder of the season.
"This is also a special weekend for Kelsey. She has dedicated so much to this program, not only as a player, but as a member of our program as an active alumni and a part of our broadcast team over the past several years." Walton said. "Even though she will be moving on with the next stage of her life, I know she will still be just as active and involved with the program as Dr. Kelsey Horton."
