Barnhill, Lorenz Advance as Top 10 Finalists for USA Player of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, announced today that Florida juniors Kelly Barnhill and Amanda Lorenz are Top 10 Finalists for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Barnhill, the reigning USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, makes her second appearance as a Top 10 finalist, while this represents Lorenz's first appearance.

The Top 3 Finalists will be announced May 23, while the winner of the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be revealed on May 29 prior to the start of the NCAA WCWS in Oklahoma City.

Has thrown 5 no-hitters, including a perfect game, and 3 one-hitters
Tallied a season-long 37.0 scoreless inning streak

Amanda Lorenz

2018 SEC Player of the Year
2018 All-SEC First Team
SEC Player of the Week (2/26 & 4/24)
Leads Florida with 18 multi-hit games and also has tallied 13 multi-RBI games this season.
Has hit two grand slams this season.
Scored the game-winning run 16 times and game-winning RBI five times.
Leads the SEC in doubles (17), walks per game (0.93) and on base percentage (0.571).

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award is voted on by coaching representatives of 11 Division I Conferences in the 10 USA Softball Regions, members of the media who consistently cover Division I Softball across the country as well as past winners of the award.
