Incoming Florida point guard Andrew Nembhard wrapped up an outstanding FIBA U18 Americas Championship, leading Canada to a silver medal and helping the team secure a place in the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup.
Nembhard scored 19 points in Canada's group stage win vs. Chile.
Nembhard, who served as team captain for Canada, averaged 15.7 points and 8.8 assists for the tournament, including a 28-point outing in the opener vs. Argentina and 17 assists vs. Puerto Rico in the semifinals.
During the tournament, Nembhard talked about why he wanted to become a Gator: "Personally, it's the coaching staff over there. It's a great group of guys, and I feel like they'll be able to push me and improve me as a player on and off the court. I feel like it's a great environment, the players and the team are really good. I feel like it's a good playing style, great school, so a lot of things came together."
Nembhard is one of three members of the Gators' 2018 freshman class, along with Noah Locke and Keyontae Johnson, all of whom are ESPN 100 prospects.
