Phillips Named to SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll

Brings total to 12 volleyball players earning academic honors during the 2017-18 academic year
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators' volleyball player Macy Phillips was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, as the Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday. She brings Florida volleyball's total to 12 student-athletes with academic honors in 2017-18.
Back in Feb., 11 Gators earned a spot on the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, including six returning to the 2018 squad.
Wednesday's announcement brings Florida's total of student-athletes named to a 2017-18 SEC Academic Honor Roll to 315. Florida placed 247 on the SEC Academic Honor Rolls (85 on fall list; 63 winter, 99 on spring) and 68 on the First-Year Honor Roll.
On the field, Florida was the Co-Champion of the SEC and earned a spot in the national championship match for only the second time in program history. The Gators went 30-2 en route to one of the best seasons the program had ever seen.
To be recognized to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
