Three Gators Named to SEC First Year Honor Roll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 2017-18 Southeastern Conference First-Year Academic Honor Roll included three Gators golfers. The three were among the 68 Gators student-athletes on the list announced Wednesday by league commissioner Greg Sankey.
Combined with the six upperclassmen – Elin Esborn, Carlotta Ricolfi, Taylor Tomlinson, Ryan Celano, Gordon Neale, and Alejandro Tosti - who earned spots on the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, the UF golf program had nine athletes recognized for their achievements during the spring semester.
Wednesday's announcement brings Florida's total of student-athletes named to a 2017-18 SEC Academic Honor Roll to 315. Florida placed 247 on the SEC Academic Honor Rolls (85 on fall list; 63 winter, 99 on spring) and 68 on the First-Year Honor Roll.
To be recognized to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letter winner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
