Axelsen to play for Denmark at Men’s World Amateur Team Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gators men's golf sophomore John Axelsen has been selected as one of three players to represent Denmark in the World Amateur Team Championships September 5-8 in Dublin, Ireland. They will be competing for the men's Eisenhower Trophy.
This event only takes place every two years and only three golfers from each country are selected for the teams. Axelsen is the first student-athlete to play in the event under head coach JC Deacon and the sixth student-athlete in program history. This is his second time participating in the event; he was also selected as member of the team for Denmark in 2016. Former gator golfer Alejandro Tosti participated in 2014 for Argentina, the same year Deacon was hired as head coach.
University of Florida Men's WATC All-Time Participants
The event will take place on the Montgomerie and O'Meara courses at Carton House, in Maynooth, near Dublin. An Athlete's Village will be created at Maynooth University, which is a10-minute journey from Carton House Golf Club. The Athlete's Village will include Accommodation for teams, and an Athlete Hub which will be designed to include a range of amenities both event-related and extra-curricular in nature.
