GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida softball program and Tim Walton welcomed back Adam DeRusha as the team's equipment manager. DeRusha, a native of Orlando, spent the 2014 and 2015 National Championship seasons with the Gators as a student manager before he graduated with his bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
"It's great to have Adam back as a part of the program. Adam was a student manager for us during our two national championship seasons, while he was earning his degree from UF, so he understands the position and the standard that we have." Walton said. "He has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience since his time here and we're grateful to have him back wearing the Orange and Blue."
DeRusha will serve as the equipment manager for the softball program and work closely with coaches, student-athletes and staff in assisting with the overall day-to-day operations.
Prior to his return to Gainesville, DeRusha spent the 2018 season as an assistant coach with the Oregon State University softball program where he was responsible for the development of the infielders.
Sandwiched between his time as a student manager for the Gators and an assistant coach with the Beavers, DeRusha achieved his master's degree in Kinesiology – Sport Administration from LSU and served as a graduate assistant manager with the softball program that made the Women's College World Series the two seasons he was there.
While at LSU, he coordinated the setup of practice, led drills, tracked player and team development, team scout and distribution of play call cards.
In addition, DeRusha has assisted with numerous camps, both at Florida and LSU, and was the head coach of the 18U Wichita Mustangs softball team in Wichita, Kansas in June 2017.
