Trinity Thomas stepped on the Senior Pan Am Championships podium twice Saturday, taking second in all-around and uneven bars.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Gator freshman Trinity Thomas took second in the Senior Pan American Gymnastics Championships' all-around, held Saturday at the Polideportivo N° 1 in Lima, Peru.
Thomas also took silver on uneven bars and was fifth on balance beam.
In the team competition, the United States topped the qualifying round at 170.166. With today's win, the USA secured a team berth in the 2019 Pan American Games, also set in Lima.
The USA competes again Sunday in the team final at 5 p.m. ET. The competition format for the team finals is three athletes compete on each event and all three scores count.

How Thomas Earned a Spot on U.S. Team
Last month at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Boston, Thomas earned her third consecutive spot on the U.S. Senior National team with her eighth-place all-around finish. A few days later, she was among the five gymnasts named to the U.S. Team for the 2018 Senior Pan American Championships.
The Senior Pan Am Championship is Thomas' fourth international assignment. In her last international event, Thomas was the all-around runner-up at the 2018 Tokyo World Cup in April.
Thomas is part of a six-member Gator freshmen class who make their collegiate debuts in the 2019 season.
