GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Gator freshman Trinity Thomas helped the U.S. win the Senior Pan American Gymnastics Championships' team title Sunday in the final day of the event at the Polideportivo N° 1 in Lima, Peru.
Thomas, who took silver in the event's all-around and uneven bars yesterday, competed on bars and beam in the team competition. She led the U.S. on bars (14.167) and posted a 12.867 on beam.
Thomas is believed to be the first gymnast on a current NCAA roster to earn an international medal since Jessie Deziel (Nebraska) was part of the U.S.'s gold-medal team at the 2011 Pan American Championships. Other gymnasts competing for U.S. while also on a NCAA roster include:

Yesterday, the U.S. secured a spot in the 2019 Pan American Championships' team competition by topping the field at 170.166.
How Thomas Earned a Spot on U.S. Team
Last month at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Boston, Thomas earned her third consecutive spot on the U.S. Senior National team with her eighth-place all-around finish. A few days later, she was among the five gymnasts named to the U.S. Team for the 2018 Senior Pan American Championships.
The Senior Pan Am Championship is Thomas' fourth international assignment. In her last international event, Thomas was the all-around runner-up at the 2018 Tokyo World Cup in April.
Thomas is part of a six-member Gator freshmen class who make their collegiate debuts in the 2019 season.
