Malik Davis’ foot injury leaves Florida’s offensive backfield short on depth.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators released their depth chart on Monday for their first road game of the season, as UF travels to Tennessee this weekend.
Redshirt sophomore Feleipe Franks continued his improvement last weekend in Dan Mullen's offensive system. Overall for the season, UF's starting quarterback has totaled 570 passing yards, nine touchdowns and just two interceptions through three games this season.
The Crawfordville, Fla. native has already matched his passing touchdowns total from a season ago.
Florida (2-1, 0-1 SEC) downed Colorado State last weekend, 48-10.
On the injury front, Coach Mullen is hopeful that injured linebacker David Reese and defensive back C.J. McWilliams will be available this weekend for the first time this season. Also, defensive back Shawn Davis is expected to return to practice this week for the first time since he sustained a leg injury during fall camp.
Davis is listed as questionable for this weekend's game in Knoxville.
Meanwhile, Florida lost running back Malik Davis to a broken foot last Saturday. UF will turn to freshman Dameon Pierce to fill that void in the running back rotation.
Following Marco Wilson's injury two weeks ago, the Gators defensive backfield remains unchanged as rookie Trey Dean III will make his second-straight start at cornerback.
UF's wide receiver, tight end, defensive line and linebacker positions remain unchanged from a week ago.
