Sophomore standout Andrew Nembhard is among 20 candidates for the 2020 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Florida men's basketball standout Andrew Nembhard was named to the 2020 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Preseason Watch List, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Monday.
The Bob Cousy Award is now in its 17th year and recognizes the top point guard in Division I men's basketball. Twenty total candidates have been selected to the award's preseason watch list with the winner being announced on Friday, April 10 at the ESPN College Basketball Award Show.
After considering entering his name in the 2019 NBA Draft, Nembhard elected to return to Gainesville for his sophomore season. As a freshman, Nembhard was the only player to start all 36 contests for the Gators, averaging 8.0 points and 5.4 assists per game, resulting in Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team honors.
This past summer, the sophomore embellished his already solid resume by earning a spot on Canada's FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 roster. During his time with Team Canada, Nembhard averaged 2.8 points and 2.4 assists per game.
