HOUSTON, TX. – Gators head football coach Dan Mullen was named to the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award Watch List on Wednesday.
The watch list contains 22 head football coaches across the nation who have been recognized for their contributions on and off the field. The list will be trimmed down to 10 finalists in December and will be voted on by the National Sports Media Association.
In conjunction with the American Heart Association, the winner of the award will be announced on Jan. 15, 2020 during the annual Bryant Banquet awards in Houston.
In his second season at the helm of the Gators' program, Mullen has led the team to just the second 7-1 start since 2010 and a national ranking of No. 7 in the latest Associated Press Poll.
With Florida's 38-27 win over South Carolina this past weekend, Mullen became just the fifth coach in Florida history to win 17 of his first 21 games.
The Gators, currently on a bye, will travel to Jacksonville on Nov. 2 to take on Georgia in a SEC East showdown at 3:30 p.m.
