TYLER, Texas – The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award announced their weekly National Player of the Week on Tuesday, as Florida's Kyle Trask received honorable mention for his efforts in a dominant 56-0 win over Vanderbilt last Saturday in the Swamp. The nod is Trask's second honorable mention honor for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award after receiving honors for his performance in Florida's 38-27 win over South Carolina on Oct. 19.
Trask, a native of Manvel, Texas, set a new career-high in passing yards on Saturday after completing 25 passes for 363 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Trask threw for 300-plus yards for the second time in his career, while throwing for 275-plus yards for the third time this season to become the first Gator since Tim Tebow (five times) to do so multiple times in a season. The performance also marks the fourth consecutive game Trask has completed 20-plus passes, while he also added his third rushing touchdown of the season with a career-high 25 rushing yards in Saturday's contest.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year D1 Texas college.
The No. 10 Florida Gators travel to Columbia, Mo. this Saturday for their final SEC East matchup with Missouri at noon on CBS.
