Friese Earns SEC Men’s Freshman of the Week Honors

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eric Friese was honored as the Southeastern Conference Men's Freshman of the Week after helping the Gators win their second consecutive dual versus in-state rival Florida State on Nov. 8.
Friese garners his second Freshman of the Week honor this year after winning the 100 fly with an effort of 48.37, barely missing out on a new career-best.
In the 50 free, Friese finished in third-place with an effort of 20.61, which was just .19 from a new lifetime best.
The Potsdam, Germany native was instrumental in the 200 free and 400 medley relay teams that both registered the fastest combined times in the Sunshine Showdown.
In the 400, he posted the second-fastest split of 20.04.
On Oct. 15, Friese earned his first conference accolade after winning two sprint events in UF's 178.5-116.5 win at Minnesota.
Florida swimmers will be back in the pool for their first invitational of the season on Nov. 22-24 at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
The divers will wrap up competition for 2019 at the Auburn Diving Invitational on Dec. 17-19.
