NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, has named eight quarterbacks as its "Stars of the Week", as Florida's Kyle Trask was recognized for his efforts in Florida's dominant 40-17 win over Florida State on Saturday night.
College football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 11 a.m. (CT), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
Trask completed a season-high 30 completions for 343 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday to lead the Gators over the Seminoles, 40-17. The Manvel, Texas native threw for 300+ yards for the third time this season, marking just the fifth Gator to do so, while joining the likes of Danny Wuerffel and Rex Grossman as the only Gators since 1996 to do so against Florida State. The performance marks his sixth consecutive contest with 20+ completions, as Trask is now 213-for-315 (67.6%) for 2,636 yards and 24 passing touchdowns since taking over at the start of the 4th quarter against Kentucky.
Trask ranks third among the SEC in QB rating (159.24) and touchdowns (24), while ranking fourth in passing yards (2,636) and completions (213).
