Kavanagh Named AAC Midfield of the Week

After a career-best five goals, the sophomore earned the title
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After notching numerous career-highs in the season opener against No. 17 Colorado, sophomore Shannon Kavanagh was named AAC Midfielder of the Week.
She is the first to receive the nod in the conference's inaugural season and it the fourth conference honor of her career.
Kavanagh did it all against the 17th-ranked Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday. She scored a career-high five goals and added two assists on the day to help Florida notch its first win of 2019. Her seven points and nine shots tie her career-best in both categories.
With her two assists, Kavanagh has now recorded an assist in 10-straight games dating back to last season, tied for the second longest streak in program history.
Kavanagh also shot .556 on day and went 4-of-4 on free position attempts.
The sophomore controlled the draw for Florida, recording six draw controls wins and also added two caused turnovers to her stat sheet.
The Gators open the home portion of their schedule on Thursday when the team hosts No. 2 Maryland. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. on the SEC Network +.
