No. 4 Gators Head West

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 4 Florida travels to Tempe, Ariz. to compete in the Littlewood Classic hosted by No. 14 Arizona State at Alberta B. Farrington Stadium this Friday through Sunday. The Gators (6-0) recently opened the newly renovated Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in an exhibition against Japan on Tuesday and UNF in a regular season game Wednesday.
This weekend UF is set to take on Illinois State (0-5), San Diego (2-4), Utah State (1-4), Central Michigan (1-4) and tournament host ASU (4-1). All of the Gators games this weekend can be listened to live on WGGG (92.1/1230 AM) and WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM) with Ryan Urquhart on the call.

Barnill Earns Weekly Conference and National Awards
Senior Kelly Barnhill earned the 10th SEC Pitcher of the Week of her career Tuesday, February 12, and followed up with her third career Louisville Slugger/ NFCA DI National Pitcher of the Week award.
Barnhill (4-0) picked up a decision in all five games that the Gators played in at the USF Opening Weekend Invitational. The Marietta, Ga. native earned a complete game shutout over No. 19/14 Michigan and earned her fourth career save against No. 7/6 Arizona. For the week, she pitched 19.0 innings, fanned 26 batters and recorded a 0.74 ERA.
Lorenz Closing In On Career Walks Record
Senior Amanda Lorenz is just six walks away from tying former Florida standout Kayli Kvistad's career walks record and just seven from breaking it. The Moorpark, Calif. native currently has 180 career walks and has drawn four so far this year, including three against UNF Wednesday night.
Kvistad set the new benchmark number of 186 last season as the Gators went on to break the NCAA DI single season record with 360 walks.
Gators Move Up In National Polls
The Gators recently moved up to No. 4 in both national polls after the program had a successful start to the season at the USF Opening Weekend Invitational in Tampa. UF went 5-0 on the weekend and was the only Top 25 program in the country to pick up two Top 25 wins with decisions over No. 19/14 Michigan, 6-0, and No. 7/6 Arizona, 3-2.
UF entered the 2019 season ranked inside the top five of the USA Today/NFCA Coaches' Poll & ESPN.com/USA Softball for the sixth consecutive season.
