No. 3 Gators Fall to No. 2 UCLA

FULLERTON, Calif. – No. 3 Florida fell 7-1 to No. 2 UCLA on the first day of the Judi Garman Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton at Anderson Family Field presented by USA Softball. A single game record crowd of 1,227 was in attendance for the contest.

The Gators (18-1) scattered eight hits in the game against the Bruins (15-0) and broke onto the scoreboard in the sixth after junior Hannah Adams, 1-for-2, roped a double to left center that scored pinch-runner Jade Caraway.

At the plate, Kendyl Lindaman notched a 3-for-4 performance, while Adams, Amanda Lorenz, Jordan Roberts, Danielle Romanello and Sophia Reynoso each tallied a hit in the game.

In the circle, senior Kelly Barnhill (9-1) suffered her first loss of the season, while Holly Azevedo improved to 5-0 for the Bruins.

How It Happened – No. 2 UCLA - L, 7-1
Inning Score Play
B-1st 0-1 Aaliyah Jordan doubled to center field which allowed Briana Perez to score for the Bruins.
B-2nd 0-2 Perez drove in UCLA's second run via an RBI single that scored Kinsley Washington.
B-2nd 0-4 Rachel Garcia pushed across two Bruins in the second a single that plated Perez and Kelli Godin.
B-4th 0-7 Garcia pushed the across the final three runs for the Bruins with a three-run home run to left field.
T-6th 1-7 Florida manufactured a run in the sixth thanks to an RBI double by Hannah Adams to the wall left center that scored pinch-runner Jade Caraway. Caraway entered the game to run for Jordan Roberts who led the inning off with a single up the middle.
