BATON ROUGE. – No. 9 LSU evened the series with No. 7 Florida after it took an 8-0 decision in six innings Sunday afternoon at Tiger Park.
The Gators (24-5, 2-3 SEC) found a way to threaten the Tigers (23-7, 3-2 SEC) in almost every inning of game offensively. The Orange and Blue managed to force opposing starting pitcher Maribeth Gorsuch (7-0) to run the count to at-least three balls nine times in the game.
In the first, UF's
Amanda Lorenz and
Kendyl Lindaman reached via a walk and single respectively to start the game and were pushed into scoring position via a well-executed SAC bunt by sophomore
Hannah Adams. However, LSU found a way to escape the inning.
Throughout the game, UF was also able to put at-least two runners on in the third and fourth innings and had the leadoff batter reach safely in every inning except the third.
Lindaman finished the game 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk, while
Sophia Reynoso went 1-for-1 with a pair of hit-by-pitches.
