Gators Set to Face Pirates in AAC Tilt

Florida looks to move to 3-0 in the conference for fifth-straight season.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 17 Florida Gators return home to The Diz on Saturday, facing East Carolina in an AAC matchup.

Opening draw is set for 11 a.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium and the game will be streamed on YouTube with Ryan Urquhart and Annabeth Collins on the call.

No. 17 Florida Gators vs. East Carolina

This is the third conference game for both Florida and East Carolina, with the Gators holding a 2-0 record in the league and the Pirates sitting at 0-2 in conference play.

The two squads are meeting for the first time, but Florida holds a 7-7 record against teams from the state of North Carolina.

Florida has won eight conference titles in the program's nine seasons: 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014 American Lacrosse Conference Champions, and 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 BIG EAST Champions.

AAC Preseason
The Gators swept all four major Preseason American Athletic Awards: Lindsey Ronbeck was named Attacker of the Year, Sydney Pirreca was named Midfielder of the Year, Cara Trombetta was named Defensive Player of the Year and Haley Hicklen was named Goalkeeper of the Year.
Along with the four major awards, seven Gators were named preseason All-AAC Team members: Sabrina Cristodero, Grace Haus, Hicklen, Shannon Kavanagh, Pirreca, Ronbeck and Trombetta. 

Current RPI
The first RPI of 2019 was released on Tuesday and the Gators sit at No. 15 in the rankings. Boston College is first, followed by Maryland, Virginia, Syracuse and North Carolina. The Gators have faced seven teams in the Top-25 thus far. 

Scouting the Pirates
East Carolina currently sits at a 5-9 overall record and 0-2 in the AAC conference. The Pirates are 0-2 against ranked opponents this season, falling to North Carolina 21-3 and Duke 22-9.

This is the first meeting between Florida and East Carolina, but the Gators hold a 7-7 record against schools from the East Carolina is led on the offensive front by Nicole LeGar, who has scored 23 goals this season. Megan Pallozzi and Ally Stanton are close behind, having recorded 22 and 21 goals, respectively. Brittany Brochers is the team's assist leader, having dished out 17 on the year.

LeGar has controlled the draw circle for the Pirates this season, coming up with 55 wins. Camryn Pennypacker has added 33, while Megan Pallozzi has pitched in 21. Christina White has played all 14 games in the cage for the Pirates, holding a 5-9 record. She has recorded 141 saves and a .433 saves percentage in her 791 minutes in between the posts.
