
Florida Trio Honored by AAC

Ronbeck, Trombetta and Kavanagh each were selected as Players of the Week
GAINVESILLE, Fla. – Three Gators were honored by the American Athletic Conference on Tuesday after Florida went 2-0 last week, picking up wins over Jacksonville and East Carolina.
Lindsey Ronbeck earned her fourth Attacker of the Week Award and eighth AAC honor overall. Cara Trombetta was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week and Shannon Kavanagh earned a spot on the Honor Roll for the first time this season – her seventh AAC honor overall.
Ronbeck went off on the offensive front this past week against Jacksonville and East Carolina, racking up 17 points on 15 goals and two assists.
The senior recorded eight goals on 10 shots against Jacksonville on Thursday, tying not only her career-best mark, but also the program-best total for one game. Ronbeck scored seven of her eight goals in the first half, the most scored in a half by a Gator in program history.
She recorded two man-up goals in that game, a season-best for her and she also registered a man-down goal. The senior won four draw controls and caused two turnovers against the Dolphins in the 19-13 victory.
Against the Pirates, Ronbeck recorded seven goals on 10 shots and handed out one assist in the 20-10 win. She went 4-of-5 in free position goals on the day, while collecting two groundballs and winning four draws.
Ronbeck is ranked in the Top-10 nationally in seven categories and is in the Top-5 in the conference in 10 different categories, five of which she leads the league in. She currently sits third in the nation among active Division I players in career goals (219) and points (285).
Trombetta had an outstanding defensive week for Florida, recording seven caused turnovers, seven groundballs and five draw controls.
The sophomore recorded a career-best five draw controls against the East Carolina Pirates and she also tied her career-best in caused turnovers with six.
Those six not only tie her career-best, but tie the program-best mark that she recorded last season against Denver (5/5/18). Trombetta already holds Florida's program record in caused turnovers, sitting at 97 in just her junior season.
She is ranked third in the conference and 33rd in the nation in caused turnovers per game with 1.80. Trombetta sits 12th in the nation among active Division I players in career caused turnovers (97).
Kavanagh recorded 11 points last week on five goals and six assists to push Florida to a 9-6 overall record.
Against Jacksonville, she recorded her 10th hat trick of the season, scoring three goals on five shots and dishing out three assists. She also won three draw controls against the Dolphins to go along with her .600 shooting percentage.
While facing East Carolina, Kavanagh recorded two goals and three assists to secure the victory for Florida. She won two draws and picked up a groundball in the game as well.
She currently sits at 82 career goals, on pace to become just the 12th 100-goal scorer at Florida and only the second to do so in a sophomore season.
Kavanagh is ranked in the Top-5 in the conference in 10 different categories, eight of which she sits third in.
The Gators – who clinched a spot in the AAC Tournament after defeating East Carolina – look to stay undefeated in conference play on Saturday when they take on UConn in Storrs, Conn. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
