GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday morning that Florida freshman Hannah Sipos earned SEC Player of the Week after her series of prosperous performances at the plate for the Gators.
Sipos turned in a trio of multi-hit games in the series against Texas A&M at Davis Diamond this past weekend. The infielder mostly known for her defensive prowess at third base racked up seven hits through three games and was instrumental in being able to turn the lineup over for the Gators.
In the series sweep of the Aggies, she batted .700 and registered her first collegiate home run in game one Friday night. Overall on the week, she posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .636 on-base percentage.
The Cooper City, Fla. native is only the fifth Gator to earn this award as a freshman and it's the first time it's been won by a freshman since Kelsey Stewart April 15, 2013.
