Fresh from Florida Sunshine Showdown: No. 8 Gators host No. 3 Seminoles

The Gators (29-8) are set to take on the Seminoles (35-3) for the first contest of a two-game series, which will be aired on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins, Michele Smith and Amanda Scarborough on the call.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 8 Florida is back at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for the Fresh from Florida Sunshine Showdown against No. 3 Florida State Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. (ET).
 
The Gators (29-8) are set to take on the Seminoles (35-3) for the first contest of a two-game series, which will be aired on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins, Michele Smith and Amanda Scarborough on the call. Fans can also listen to the action as called by Kyle Crooks and Ryan Urquhart on WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (1001.1 FM/900 AM).
 
Florida enters the week after going 1-2 in the series against SEC foe No. 22 Ole Miss in Oxford this past weekend. UF opened the series with a 15-inning, 5-2, victory over the Rebels, which turned out to be the longest conference game in program history. Ole Miss rallied to take the final two games of the series over Florida.
 
In the circle the Gators enter with a 1.86 team ERA, led by senior right-hander Kelly Barnhill's (19-4) 1.48 mark, while the Seminoles bring an even 2.00 ERA, led by Meghan King's (18-1) 1.13 ERA. Offensively, Florida State holds the edge with a .368 average at the plate compared to Florida's .289 batting average.
 
 
Notable Notes
  • Junior Jade Caraway is currently on an eight-game hit streak and has tallied four multi-hit games over that span.
  • Kendyl Lindaman has been on a tear at the plate lately. The Ankeny, Iowa native has produced nine home runs and 23 RBI over the last ten games for the Gators. Overall, she holds a .412 (14-for-34) batting average during that span.
  • This week the Gators fell in the national rankings to No. 8 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and No. 9 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
  • Overall the Gators hold a 25-16 record against the Seminoles and a 13-7 record when playing at KSP Stadium.
