GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Senior pitcher Kelly Barnhill was awarded Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week after a successful weekend in the circle for the Gators.
The right-handed hurler, earned her fourth SEC Pitcher of the Week accolade, 13th of her career, after she hurled her eighth career complete-game no-hitter against No. 19 Auburn in the series opener April 26, at Jane B. Moore Field.
It was the first time that AU was no-hit since Kent State Feb. 26, 2010.
Barnhill also captured the UF career strikeout record when she struck out 10 Tigers in the complete-game effort. She surpassed Stacey Nelson's (2006 – '09) previous record of 1,116 in the fourth inning when she struck out Makenna Dowell.
The Marietta, Ga. native capped off the series with her second complete-game performance of the series. Barnhill struck out 10 more Tigers, did not allow a walk, and limited to the Tigers to just a pair of hits.
Barnhill finished the weekend with a 2-1 record, a 0.79 ERA and struck out 24 batters over 17.2 innings pitched.
