
Gator Trio Earns AAC Weekly Honors

Kavanagh, Trombetta and Ronbeck all honored by the conference
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators moved to 2-0 in the AAC after defeating Vanderbilt on Saturday, earning three Gators Player of the Week honors, as announced Tuesday.
Shannon Kavanagh was named AAC Midfielder of the Week for the sixth time this season, Cara Trombetta earned her first Defensive Player of the Week honor, while Lindsey Ronbeck was tabbed to the Honor Roll for the fourth time this season.
Kavanagh helped move Florida to 2-0 in AAC play after recording five points against Vanderbilt on Saturday. The sophomore went 3-of-5 for a .600 shooting percentage against the Commodores, picking up her ninth hat trick this season – she has notched a hat trick in six-straight games now.
The Smithtown, N.Y. native also notched a season-best nine draw controls against Vanderbilt. She also caused a turnover and picked up four groundballs.
Kavanagh sits third in the conference in free position goals per game (0.77), goals (41), goals per game (3.15), points (62), points per game (3.69), shots per game (6.54) and shots on goal per game (4.69). She is also fourth in the conference in draw controls per game (4.23).
Cara Trombetta put up another fantastic defensive effort, holding Vanderbilt's Hadley Brown to 0-of-1 shooting, as well as holding her pointless.
She picked up four groundballs and caused two turnovers against the Commodores. Trombetta also came up with one draw control win.
With her first caused turnover of the day, she became Florida's all-time leader in caused turnovers with 88, surpassing Caroline Fitzgerald's previous record of 87. The junior is ranked eighth in the conference in caused turnovers per game (1.54).
Ronbeck recorded five points against Vanderbilt on Saturday. She went 3-of-6 for a .500 shooting percentage against the Commodores, notching her 10th hat trick of the season. The senior also picked up two groundballs and recorded one draw control on the day.
She moved in to second place all-time in Florida history for most goals scored, surpassing Kitty Cullen's record of 203.
Ronbeck is currently first in the conference in free position goals per game (1.31), goals (50), goals per game (3.85), shots per game (8.77) and shots on goal per game (6.38). The Manhasset, N.Y. native also ranks second in points (62) and points per game (4.77).
