Shannon Kavanagh, Lindsey Ronbeck and Cara Trombetta tabbed as first team honorees, Sydney Pirreca named to second team
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four members of the Florida lacrosse team racked up more postseason honors as the IWLCA All-Region teams were announced on Tuesday. Those four will now be eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team.
Florida's All-South Region First Team selections consisted of sophomore Shannon Kavanagh, senior Lindsey Ronbeck and junior Cara Trombetta.
Senior Sydney Pirreca was named to the All-South Region Second Team.
This was Ronbeck's fourth time as an All-Region selection and second time earning first team honors (2018, 2019). She was tabbed as a second team honoree during her first two seasons at UF (2016, 2017). Ronbeck is just the third Gator in program history to earn All-Region honors all four years at Florida (Caroline Fitzgerald, Taylor Bresnahan).
Pirreca earned the third All-Region honor of her tenure, earning first team honors in 2018. She recorded second team honors in both the 2017 and 2019 seasons. The senior became the ninth Gator to earn at least three All-Region honors during their tenure.
Trombetta picked up the second first team honor of her career, having been selected to the first team in 2018 as well.
Kavanagh nabbed the second All-Region of her career on Tuesday – the sophomore was a second team selection a season ago.
The Gators finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-7 and went undefeated in the inaugural season of the American Athletic Conference. The team swept both the regular season conference championship (ninth-straight) and tournament championship (sixth-straight).
Florida's four All-South nominees will now await IWLCA All-American selections during Divisional All-American Announcement Shows, which will be aired on the Lax Sports Network in mid-June. Haley Hicklen, Sydney Pirreca, Lindsey Ronbeck and Cara Trombetta were Florida's All-Americans a season ago.
