14 Florida teams exceeded the national Academic Progress Rate average for its sport.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida athletics produced high marks again for all sports in the Academic Progress Rate (APR), announced Wednesday by the NCAA.
The APR of four Florida teams were recognized last week as they ranked in the top 10 percent of their sport - men's basketball & cross country and women's golf & tennis.
"Today's APR announcement shows the Gator student-athletes' focus on their academic performance," Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said. "This indicates Florida student-athletes want success in both the academic and athletic arenas."
Fourteen Florida teams exceeded its sport's national average. This includes Florida football team's 975, which is above the sport's national average of 968, while men's basketball's 995 is among the sport's top 10 percent.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success by tracking eligibility and progress toward graduation of each student-athlete on scholarship. The current report contains multi-year rates based on the four years from the 2014-15 academic year through the 2017-18 academic year.
To compete in 2019-20 postseason action, teams must achieve a 930 four-year APR in this report. This is the 15th year of the APR.
