Future Gators Start Summer with USA U-19 Women's National Team

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The trio of newcomers in Charla Echols, Julia Cottrill and Rylee Trlicek helped the USA U-19 Women's National Team to a 3-0 start this past weekend in Houston.
The Red, White and Blue started their training camp June 10 and concluded it with games against the Scrap Yard Internationals, Mizuno Impulse and Texas Bombers Gold. Florida head coach Tim Walton, an assistant coach with this year's USA U-19 Women's National Team, was able to get a first-hand look at the future Gators.
Next up for Team USA is a trip to Paris, France and Dublin, Ireland to compete against Japan, France and Ireland from June 21 through June 24.

USA U-19 WNT Schedule & Results
Cottrill opened play with the JWNT going 3-for-11 (.273) at the plate with a hit in every game, six RBI, three runs scored and a walk. In the first game against the Scrap Yard Internationals, Cottrill blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the 4th inning to put Team USA up 17-1.
During the second game against the Mizuno Impulse, Cottrill singled in the bottom of the 1st inning and later scored to put the Red, White and Blue ahead 2-1.
The Stillwater, Okla. native provided the heroics against the Bombers with her walk-off single to right field that won the game 3-2.
Echols had monster weekend at the plate for Team USA as she went 7-for-10 (.700) over the three game stretch with six runs scored, an RBI and a walk.
During the opening game of the weekend against the Scrap Yard Internationals, Echols went 4-for-5 and came up a home run shy of the cycle. She also scored a pair of runs and produced an RBI in the contest.
Echols hot streak at the plate continued the following day against the Mizuno Impulse (2-for-2) and Texas Bombers Gold (1-for-3) as she accounted four total runs and a walk. The Newnan, Ga. native also started the rally for the walk-off victory against the Bombers with her leadoff double and scored the game-tying run in the effort.
Trlicek picked up 1.2 innings worth of work in the circle the opening weekend for the Red, White and Blue. The Hallettsville, Texas native entered in the top of the 5th inning against the Texas Bombers Gold team after a lighting delay and relinquished a pair of runs in the 6th inning on three hits. She also notched a strikeout in the effort.
Trlicek also went 1-for-1 at the plate as she picked up a pinch-hit single to right field in the bottom of the 5th inning against the Scrap Yard Internationals.
