Alicia Boren to Compete in Inaugural Aurora Games

Gymnastics competition airs live Wednesday on ESPNU at 7 p.m.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – She's competed for the Florida Gators for the past four seasons. Now Alicia Boren competes for Team Americas this Wednesday at the inaugural Aurora Games in Albany, N.Y.
Boren is part of Team Americas' gymnastics team, which competes Wednesday at 7 p.m. The competition airs on ESPNU and ESPN3.
Boren completed her Gator career last April, winning the NCAA floor exercise title in her final collegiate floor performance. Joining her on Team Americas' are two other names familiar to collegiate gymnastics fans - Katelyn Ohashi (UCLA) and McKenna Kelley (LSU). Complete list of gymnastics competitors found here.
About the Aurora Games
The Aurora Games are the brainchild of Jerry Solomon, one of the nation's top sports marketing executives. He came up with the idea while watching the 2016 Summer Olympic closing ceremonies with wife, Olympic figure skating medalist Nancy Kerrigan.
Despite the many women competing at the Olympics, Solomon felt men's competition seemed to dominate the airtime. That idea for an event exclusively for female athlete around the world is happening at the Times Union Center beginning Tuesday, Aug. 20.
Stars of women's gymnastics, basketball, tennis, figure skating, ice hockey and beach volleyball will take part in the events. Competitors from North and South America face athletes across the world.
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee and five-team Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comaneci serve as honorary team captains for the Aurora Games. Joyner-Kersee, an American track and field icon, will lead the athletes representing Team Americas. Comaneci, the legendary Romanian gymnast, will guide those competing for Team World. Former UCLA coach Valorie Kondos Field will oversee the gymnastics competition.
ESPN is the exclusive broadcaster of the Aurora Games, with all six nights to air on ESPNU and ESPN3.
