GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 12 Florida volleyball team kicks off conference play against Auburn on Friday evening.
First serve is slated for 7 p.m. on the SEC Network + with Tom Collett and Josh Crow on the call. ESPN Gainesville 98.1 FM/850 AM will air the radio broadcast.
The Gators finished their non-conference schedule with a 9-2 record, while the Tigers are 6-5 going into league matches. Florida was picked to finish second in the SEC, while Auburn was picked to finish 12th.
UF currently sits second in the league with a .277 hitting percentage and third in blocks, averaging 2.55 per set.
Six Gators are ranked in the top-10 of seven categories in the SEC.
Thayer Hall is ranked sixth in kills per set (3.68) and fifth in points per set (4.26).
Marlie Monserez is fourth in assists per set, dishing out 9.84, while
Allie Gregory is fourth in digs, averaging 4.18 per set.
Paige Hammons is averaging 0.35 service aces per set, putting her fifth in the league, while
Lauren Dooley is posting 1.07 blocks per set, good for eighth overall.
The last time out against Auburn, Florida topped the Tigers 3-1 in Auburn, Ala.
Paige Hammons led the way with a career-best 17 kills, while
Rachael Kramer recorded 10 kills on the afternoon.
The Gators are on the quest for their 24th SEC Championship this season after having finished 15-3 in league in 2018.
The 23 SEC titles are also the third-most by any SEC teams, regardless of sport or gender since 1979, the first season the conference crowned a volleyball champion.
