Carter's Corner: A Sunday Reader for Gators Fans
Sunday, March 22, 2020 | General, Scott Carter
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- If like me, you have watched Netflix, cleaned out the closet, raked leaves and read James Joyce's "Ulysses" -- twice -- to pass the time.
Perhaps you skipped "Ulysses." Believe me, I get it. Gave you more time to rake leaves.
It's been a week unlike any other for everyone. Hopefully you are safe out there and doing what is needed to keep yourself, your family and others healthy.
As we navigate our current landscape together, perhaps you can find something here informative or entertaining. In addition, continue to check out FloridaGators.com regularly for fresh stories on the Gators during the coronavirus pandemic and look for a new edition of Two Bits magazine in the mailbox soon.
For now, let's start on a lighter note: one YouTube user's version of "One Shining Moment" for 2020:
Here are some fresh links for your perusal on this Sunday in late March:
-- UF Athletic Director Scott Stricklin spoke with Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi about a topic that is certainly on the minds of many in college athletics. "For right now, it's all manageable," Stricklin says of the coronavirus pandemic that has shut down sports, "but the question your mind goes to really quickly is if this lasts into another school year."
-- In this story on TheAtlantic.com, writer Mike Giglio covers the biggest worry for doctors fighting the pandemic.
-- Based on his experiences, former Gators head coach Steve Spurrier isn't too concerned about the impact of not having spring camp might have on the Gators writes Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun.
-- Florida Ballpark, the future home of the UF baseball team, continues to take shape writes Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball.com.
-- Football 101: A closer look at former UF standout Vernon Hargreaves III and his return to Houston from HoustonTexans.com, which breaks down what Hargreaves brings to the team.

-- Gators defensive line signee Gervon Dexter is going through a difficult period as his father battles health issues writes Bob Redman of 247Sports.com.
-- The sports world is mostly dormant but not NFL free agency. If you want to get caught up on all the moves, check out ESPN.com's free-agency tracker.
