SEC Opening Weekend: No. 7 Florida Hosts Auburn

The series can be viewed online via the SEC Network +, while the final game on Sunday will also air on the SEC Network with Mike Couzens, Michele Smith and Amanda Scarborough as hosts.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 7 Florida opens Southeastern Conference play with a three-game series against Auburn which starts this Friday at 6 p.m. at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The two programs will also square off Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
 
The series can be viewed online via the SEC Network +, while the final game on Sunday will also air on the SEC Network with Mike Couzens, Michele Smith and Amanda Scarborough as hosts. Fans can listen along live on WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM).
 
The Gators (18-4) enter SEC play after it took a midweek contest against FGCU, 3-1, this past Wednesday at KSP Stadium. Freshman Baylee Goddard's two-run home run lifted Florida to victory over the Eagles, while junior Natalie Lugo (7-2) turned in her fourth complete-game of the season in the circle.
 
Auburn (14-8) comes into the weekend with a four-game win streak that includes victories over Georgia Southern, Binghamton and previously ranked No. 18 Minnesota at the Tiger Invitational.

Florida holds an overall record of 35-21 when playing in its' first three-game SEC series dating back to 2001. The Gators have 13 opening SEC series victories, which includes three over Auburn. Also, this is the first time the two programs will open conference play against each other in Gainesville.

Sophomore Charla Echols enters SEC play ranked in the Top-10 among SEC players in batting average (.443 – 7th), slugging percentage (.814 – 9th), hits (31 – T-3rd), RBIs (26 – T-4th), home runs (7 – 4th) and total bases (57 – 3rd).
 
Goddard Ranks Nationally in Hit-by-Pitches
Freshman Baylee Goddard cranked her fourth home run of the season Wednesday against FGCU, but she reached in her previous two plate appearance via hit-by-pitch. Goddard currently leads the nation with 15 hit-by-pitches on the year and her team-leading .582 on-base percentage ranks 4th in the SEC.
 
Lindaman Consistent at the Plate
Senior Kendyl Lindaman has registered a hit in 20 of the 22 games so far this season and has reached base safely in every game. The Ankeny, Iowa native produced a 15-game hit-streak at the beginning of the season and is currently on a five-game streak entering SEC play.
