Women’s tennis begins 2021 dual match campaign in the nation’s top 25.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The ITA released its inaugural team rankings for the 2021 dual match season Thursday and the University of Florida women's tennis team earned the No. 21 spot.
Florida welcomes back five competitors from last season's squad and has added two new key additions in Sara Dahlstrom and five-star signee Amber McGinnis.
Under the guidance of head coach Roland Thornqvist who enters his 20th season with the program, Florida is one of five SEC teams to earn a spot in the ITA's first set of rankings.
Individual rankings in both singles and doubles were released yesterday by the ITA.
McCartney Kessler checked in at No. 32 in singles, earning the highest ranking on the team, while sophomore Layne Sleeth, a heralded signee in Florida's 2020 class, registered a No. 65 overall ranking in singles.
Kessler and Marlee Zein came in at No. 26 in the doubles rankings.
